The Downtown State College Improvement District and the Palmer Museum of Art invite you to join neighbors, campus partners, and community leaders as we celebrate the launch of Looking at US: Celebrating America’s 250th with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, July 1 from 5:00–5:30 PM at East End Social on Hiester Street in downtown State College.
Looking at US is a new public art initiative transforming downtown State College into a vibrant cultural corridor where campus and community meet. Featuring mural reproductions of portraits from the Palmer Museum of Art’s American collection, the project invites us to look back, look inward, and look ahead through artworks that spark reflection, dialogue, and connection.
Installed across downtown façades and inside local businesses, these works activate a walkable cultural corridor that sparks exchange between Penn State and the broader community, weaving town and gown together through shared public space and everyday encounters with art.
